I am so sorry that I haven’t written in so long. Here is what has happened in the last couple months since I’ve written.
Modeling:
Modeling has been suppppaaaa busy until now. Since it’s summer now, things have been a little more chill (good for me since I have soo much other work to do!) In June I got my biggest hair campaign yet, the Asia campaign for KMS California. Not only did I get a brand new spankin’ hairdo’ but I had an amazing time at the shoot, one of the most fun shoots yet! Here was the sched:
Day 1: They took a video of my haircut (It took over 3 hours to cut my hair!) and then a quick shoot and video shoot of me struttin’ ma stuff in ma new do’. I also met with the stylist to style the clothes to go with my new haircut. Sad to say I do not have photos of this day, but the video of it should be out soon on the KMS site!
Day 2: Shot at this GORGEOUS mansion up in the Malibu Hills. They also had a DJ on set for the 9 hour shoot all day, to set the mood! The theme of the shoot was “Checking In” wherein all of the models were checking in to a posh/stylish hotel in LA. Although the mansion was not a hotel, it sure did look like one! Here is a photo of the pool area, along with the DJ in the background (shot on my blackberry so sorry about the crappy quality!):

Although I luuuuv my haircut, it has taken a while to get used to. I’m also growing out my bangs, they’re just too difficult to deal with (I don’t have time to blowdry it everyday), and I don’t think I’m going to get as many clients with this do’ (castings have already been slower this month :-/) Here’s some polaroids my agency took of me to post with my port:

As for other modelin’ stufff, apparently my sketchers campaign is on a HUGE billboard in HK, and my friend just took this snapshot of me on the side of a NYC bus! I totally forgot about this shot:

My sketchers ad is on the side of an NYC bus!
Miss Misa:
-Tons of new items out! I think I am most excited about the Je T’aime Earring Trio, they are so detailed, and I think I’ll be wearing them a lot because they aren’t too bold. I decided to make them not only because they go great with the Je T’aime collection, but also I couldn’t find any cute daisy earring studs online! Cute and detailed daisy jewelry is hard to come by
I also LOVE the daisy bracelet, that will be a keeper too . . .

-In addition to designing 10 more items for the Miss Misa Collection (it’s so much more work than you would think!), I am in the process of redesigning the website myself. Ever since I began Miss Misa, I have outsourced the web design and coding for the site. Although I thought this was the most efficient way to do things, it proves I was wrong
It turns out that Miss Misa has many errors in the Internet Explorer Browser, so I’m going back to basics, and redesigning the entire infrastructure of the site myself. Wish me luck, soooo much to learn!
Posh Pants:
In addition to just the jewelry world, I have been craaaving to start a clothing line. I knew I wanted it to be a different style/theme than Miss Misa, so I have started a brand new clothing company altogether. A couple months ago I was looking for sequin high waisted shorts online (I LOVE high waisted shorts) and there were so few available! The only pair available was waaaay out of my price range, and ones selling on eBay only came on the market once every couple months. As a result, I just decided to start my own affordable clothing company, focused on stylish nightlife apparel for women. Here is what the our first piece of the collection will look like:

I knew that I would never be able to run three companies and modeling by myself, so I decided to take Christina on as my partner in crime in Posh Pants. So far everything has gone great, and I think we will work work great together, since she is also sooo motivated to start a clothing company. Here is a photo of us together on the Great Wall, we studied together in Shanghai two summers ago:
Keep an eye out for posh pants ya’ll! We just purchased the url posh-pants.com and will soon launch on eBay! Look out world
Nom Nom (as in it’s so yummy you just go nom nom nom nom)
Last but not leeeeast, Nom Nom! Nom Nom Sandwiches, a Vietnamese food truck set to launch August 2009, has been taking up most of my time lately. Although I have absolutely NO experience in the food industry (except for that I LOVE food!
) I am enjoying every minute of developing Nom Nom as a company. Going out of retail and into the food business has really been an eye opening experience, and although they are two totalllly different industries, I can really see parallels between them, too. I’m of course starting Nom Nom with two other amazin’ hapas, David and Jennifer. Since they’re both half Vietnamese, they are much more familiar with Vietnamese food and Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) and they’re much more involved in the hands-on food part of the business. Here are some drafts of our logo (not finalized!) designed by one of my best friends, Allison Torneros
In addition to working with David in Nom Nom, he has been a huge entrepreneurial mentor to me, since he’s started and starting a couple of other companies such as beardhead.com, pokerbling.com and instaninja (ninja hoodie=BRILLIANT!), and really encouraged me to start businesses other than just Miss Misa. Here’s a photo of his oh-so-brilliant Beard Head:

That’s about all for now, I’m going to keep pluggin’ away and I’ll be sure to update this every couple days. *I promise!*
Luuuuuv,
Misa
